AS/NZS 1754 is Australia’s mandatory child restraint standard. It requires every car seat to pass a dynamic sled test simulating a frontal crash at 56 km/h, a side-impact test, and a rollover test for structural integrity. The standard tests harness strength, buckle release force, flammability of fabrics, and chemical safety of materials. Critically, it is pass/fail— there is no “5-star” or “safer” tier.
