Mazda 3 hatch (308L):Butterfly (45×36×23 cm) and YOYO³ (52×44×18 cm) fit easily with room for a full grocery shop. Minu V3 (52×47×30 cm) fits but uses ~40% of the boot. Mixx Next (82×60×44 cm) fits but dominates the space, so you’ll need to pack around it. Fox 5 (89×53×35 cm with seat removed) fits but leaves ~40% of the boot free. Vista V3 and Gazelle S fit tightly, so measure your specific boot before buying. Toyota Corolla hatch (333L): All prams fit, but full-size models leave only ~30-40% of the boot free. The Butterfly and YOYO³ are the clear winners; they leave ~70-80% of the boot available. Hyundai i30 (395L):All prams fit comfortably. Even the largest prams (Gazelle S, Vista V3) leave ~45% of the boot free. The i30’s generous boot makes compact prams less necessary.
Compact prams (Butterfly 2, YOYO³, Minu V3) win on boot space but sacrifice: (1) all-terrain capability, since none handle gravel or unsealed paths; (2) underseat basket size, 2-4 kg versus the Fox 5’s 10 kg; (3) seat reversibility, as only full-size prams offer parent-facing mode; and (4) newborn readiness, because compact prams need a separate bassinet or capsule for newborns. If you live in a walkable area and only drive occasionally, a compact pram’s boot-space advantage is convenient but not essential; you could use a full-size pram and accept the tighter boot fit. If you drive daily and need the boot for shopping, a compact pram (Butterfly or YOYO³) plus a separate full-size pram for neighbourhood walks is the ideal two-pram solution.

The Bugaboo Butterfly 2 (45 × 36 × 23 cm folded, 7.3 kg) and Stokke YOYO³ (52 × 44 × 18 cm, 6.1 kg) are the most compact options — both fit in the boot of a Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla, or Hyundai i30 with room to spare. The UPPAbaby Minu V3 (52 × 47 × 30 cm) is slightly larger but still compact enough for most small car boots.
It depends on the pram. The Bugaboo Fox 5 (89 × 53 × 35 cm folded with seat removed) will fit in a Mazda 3 boot (308L) but leaves limited room for shopping. The UPPAbaby Vista V3 (93 × 60 × 42 cm) and Cybex Gazelle S (95 × 60 × 42 cm) will be very tight — they fit but consume most of the boot space. For small cars, a compact or travel pram is the better choice unless you rarely carry other cargo.
For full-size prams (Fox 5, Vista V3, Gazelle S) in small boots, yes — removing the seat reduces the folded chassis size significantly. The Fox 5 chassis alone folds to approximately 89 × 53 × 25 cm without the seat, making it more manageable in a compact boot. Compact prams (Butterfly 2, YOYO³, Minu V3) fold as one piece with the seat attached and are designed for small spaces.
If you need a double pram for a small car boot, the Cybex Gazelle S and UPPAbaby Vista V3 are the only convertible options — but both are large when folded (95×60×42 cm and 93×60×42 cm). For two children in a small car, consider: (1) a compact single pram (Butterfly or YOYO³) for the younger child plus a buggy board for the older child, or (2) two lightweight travel prams (you can fit two Butterflies in most boots). Full-size double prams and small car boots are a difficult combination.
