Setup

Setting up the Bugaboo Stardust Plus: what to expect

The Stardust Plus is a one-second pop-up portacot with a zip-in newborn bassinet layer. Setup and pack-down are the two skills that take practice, so the steps cover both.

  1. 1Open the carry bag and release the strap that holds the folded cot; the frame pops open by itself in about one second. Place it on the floor and let the legs settle.
  2. 2Check the frame is fully locked: the Stardust's legs click into place automatically, but give the rim a gentle press to confirm it's rigid before use.
  3. 3For newborns, zip the bassinet layer in at the top of the cot and tuck the newborn mattress onto the raised layer (birth to ~6 months, or until the baby pushes up).
  4. 4For toddlers, unzip and remove the bassinet layer and let the full-size mattress sit on the lower floor of the cot (0–2 years, or until the child can climb out).
  5. 5Pack-down takes more practice than pop-up: push the floor down from inside, fold the two halves together, and roll the frame back into its carry bag. The included travel bag is sized to fit.
  6. 6The mattress is thicker than most portacot mattresses, so use standard Australian travel-cot sheets (Bugaboo's own sheets fit best).
